Tomorrow I travel to Kalamazoo MI to join Experience Mission http://www.experiencemission.org/ and assist with their 2012 summer staff training. I’m looking forward to meeting new people, learning about the ministry of EM and helping develop their training program.
Thanks Elyse, for your supportive words.
“I worked Jim with throughout my time as an intern (with the INN university ministries). During my time with Jim, I not only learned what it takes to minister well to others, but I also learned about what makes me thrive as a person. He opened my eyes to both the exciting and the challenging aspects of leadership, lending me advice and help along the way. Jim has been an integral part of my adult faith and someone I respect and admire greatly. “
Elyse Fairweather, Youth Director, Northminister Presbyterian Church, Ballard WA
An update along the way
Last week I was in the Pittsburgh area (on behalf of PC USA college ministries) with CCO www.ccojubilee.org/ staff members observing their SR Blueprints training (support raising for individuals). This week I’m traveling to the Kalamazoo Michigan area to join Experience Mission (http://www.experiencemission.org/) for their summer intern training. These are both great opportunities to connect with dynamic ministries, learn more about their programs and people and helping them along the way.
New testimonial from Christine Everson
I had the pleasure of working with Jim in ministry for 5 years, 4 as a student/student leader and 1 as an intern. Jim has great insights into current and historical shifts in culture for both the church and society at large. I am always impressed by his rich understanding of the deeper themes at play. However, what I appreciated most about knowing and working with Jim is that he places great emphasis on relationships. In many of my most trying times Jim has walked alongside me and offered advice and support that was individually tailored to what I needed in that moment. I can specifically recall when Jim helped me make a very important decision about a recent cardiac procedure that I needed to have. He used his knowledge of how I make decisions to help me feel peace in a very difficult situation. I am remarkably grateful who Jim is in my life as both a mentor and a friend.

practical support for church, para-church and non-profit organizations
“I have been in professional ministry for almost 25 years in various forms (youth ministry, campus ministry, church planting). In all that time I have never had anyone ever come close to the influence and impact Jim has had on me both professionally and personally in the 12 years since I met him. His knowledge and understanding of leadership development, of culture (both the faith culture and secular culture), churches and para-church organizations and the mentoring and coaching he has provided to me in those areas has proved to be invaluable.”
Mark Nelson, Senior Pastor, Crossings Church, Knoxville, TN, August 2011
I have had the privilege of sharing life and ministry with Mark in a variety of settings over the years. My hope is to continue to live and serve through similar supportive relationships in the days ahead.
I am available to help with projects, short term and interim staffing needs, teaching, training, consulting and coaching. My strengths are in the areas of organizational leadership, staff training and support and program/ministry leadership.

my time with the CCO
This morning I will be finishing my time with CCO (http://www.ccojubilee.org/) staff leaders. We met yesterday to explore ways to help them develop and implement an intern program in the central Pennsylvania area. The CCO is a great organization. I have had a supportive friendship with their executive VP, Vince Burens, for a number of years. It was good to spend time with Vince as well as getting to know other staff members. I am looking forward to returning to Pennsylvania next month for another few days with CCO staff leaders.
helping the CCO build internships
Tuesday (4.10) I’m off to the Harrisburg, PA area to work with leaders of the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO http://www.ccojubilee.org/). We will be evaluating and reshaping their intern program to better meet ministry needs. The added bonus is getting to spend time with my long time friend, Vince Burens, Executive VP and COO of CCO. It will be even better if I get a few minutes with Byron Borger, owner of Hearts and Minds bookstore (http://www.heartsandmindsbooks.com/).

getting to know Chris Clum & Experience Mission
I had a great day traveling to Port Townsend to meet with Chris Clum, executive director Experience Mission (EM) http://www.experiencemission.org/ and explore mutually supportive ministry opportunities. EM has a focus on leadership development and varied internship opportunities, my kind of organization. I look forward to future connections with Chris and EM.
